Today we are going to dedicate our top 5 (+1) to a very specific sub-genre of gaming puzzle that has enjoyed enormous popularity on mobile devices, probably because of how addictive they can be: escape games. You will probably have tried at least one of them at some point, and with that you will have had enough to get an idea of how they all work, since they follow a fairly closed formula: they present us with a closed room with a series of objects that we can use and clues how to do it and we have to find our way out, pulling a bit of logic and a bit of trial and error too often. We leave you with some of the best that we can find in the App Store and in Google Play.
The Room Three
We start with the series that has done the most to make this subgenre the success that it is, the most popular of all and the one that always gets the best ratings: The Room. At this point there are already three installments available, and although we have decided to highlight the third, any of them is a good option if you have not played them yet. Taking into account that there are dozens of games of this type for free, it may give you some qualms to pay to play this one in particular, but it is almost guaranteed that if you do it you will not regret it, because how careful it is makes it deserve worth the investment.
Escape Through History
We continue with another game that, as we warned you at the beginning, is not that it does not offer us anything particularly original in terms of the game mechanics, but which, in addition to recognizing a good execution, at least it can be said that it introduces something variety in the scenarios and in the puzzles that we have to solve thanks to the history that serves as a base and that uses a door in parallel dimensions as an excuse to take us to rooms of the most varied, typical of very different places and historical moments.
Titanic Escape
If the challenge of solving the puzzles is not enough to give you excitement and you want to feel a little more urgency to overcome levels, nothing better than to make us feel that our life depends on the fact that we can go from one room to another until we reach the safe zone in a shipwreck (the one of Titanic nothing less). Keep in mind that only the first episode is free, and that if we want to continue we will have to pay, but then at least we have the opportunity to try it and if it hooks us before making the final investment.
100 Doors Alien Space
In this case, as with The Room, we would rather recommend the franchise 100 Doors in general than a specific game, since this studio has a fairly wide collection of escape games to choose from, although we have decided on this Alien space Because the scenario is at least the most original and because it is probably one of the ones that have worked the best. Unlike what happened with the first saga that we recommended, in this case, in addition, they are all free games.
Cube Escape Seasons
We end with another saga, Cube Escape from Rusty Lake, also made up entirely of free and hugely popular games. East Seasons is the first in the series (each title can be considered a chapter of it) and if you want to follow the story as it unfolds (as it progresses we will recover memories that we had blocked and reveal hidden things in our past and our present ), but if the only thing that interests you is the challenge of solving the puzzles, any of them will be just as satisfying.
Republic
The extra on this list is a game that is not properly an escape game, but a graphic adventure (in which, yes, we have to help the protagonist escape) much more elaborate, both in game mechanics and in plot, but that includes a good number of puzzles in the style of this type of games and elements that are their own. Also in this case it is a paid game, but again it must be said that it is a worthwhile investment, as well as an opportunity to take the basics of this subgenre one step further.
