LG has confirmed with a press release that the second generation of its G Series will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chip. This means that the successor to the Optimus G smartphone will carry it but so will the LG Optimus G Pro phablet, which featured in its first installment with a 5,5-inch screen and a Snapdragon 600 chip. The cooperation between the Korean brand and the American chipmaker Qualcomm continues after a few families of mobile phones using its famous range of processors.

The chosen chip is undoubtedly becoming the most desired among consumers and industry in recent months. After the success of the 400 and especially the 600, the flagship is being awarded or confirmed for the most interesting devices of the next dates. Yesterday we learned that Microsoft will use this same processor to the successor to Surface RT to increase its potential and add its ability to connect to LTE mobile networks. It even seems that the newly released Galaxy S4, which used the Snapdragon 600, will release a vitamin version with the 800.

The results that this chip has shown are really remarkable. In many respects they are on par with those of Tegra 4 and, in some respects, it surpasses it, as we could see thanks to the results obtained recently in becnhmarks test being mounted on a prototype created by Qualcomm itself.

According to LG itself, these are the performance improvements they hope to get with this new equipment:

Higher speed thanks to processing and higher performance in communication thanks to the four Krait 400 cores of its CPU.

Improve multitasking with better ASMP (Asynchronous Multiprocessing Architecture)

Double your graphics processing performance with Adreno 330 compared to Adreno 320 of the Snapdragon S4.

Improve connectivity by adding more capabilities including LTE 4G.

Better video quality with the ability to record and playback Ultra HD quality or, as it is commonly known, 4K.

High definition multichannel audio with DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus technologies.

Support for higher screen resolutions up to X and 1080p HD from Miracast.

Geolocation with Qualcomm IZat Location technology with GNSS.
