After its great success for PC, This War of Mine will reach mobile platforms, Android and iOS next July. Specifically, the title developed by the 11 Bit Studios studio will be available for tablets with these operating systems, where we can see the cruder side of the war, a point of view that most of the time is not taught in movies and video games that focus in warlike conflicts such as that of civilians who are immersed in them, constantly threatened, each day can be the last and this is reflected in this game.
We already knew that This War of Mine would be adapted for iPad. The announcement was made last March in the absence of more information that has arrived in the last hours. And it cannot bring better news. The majority operating system in our country, Android, will also be compatible with this version of the game for mobile devices. 11 bit studios. As we said, it will be available both in App Store as Google Play next July, although they have not indicated the exact date of the launch.
This War of Mine was released in late 2014 to Windows, Mac and Linux and it was one of the biggest surprises of the whole year, ranking among the favorite games of many who tried it. Available for 18,99 euros on Steam (we assume that the price will be similar in the official app stores), it has received several updates and a first DLC, War Child Charity, whose proceeds will go entirely to War Child, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in countries at war.
We are used to seeing games that place us in past warfare, future present. But practically all of them are presented to us from the point of view of the “hero”, a soldier who with his actions turns the battle towards the side of “the good guys”. The success of This War of Mine is based on the opposite. It focuses on those most affected by the war, civilians, which both in cinema and video games are usually the great forgotten.
We will control a group of survivors, each one with a series of abilities derived from their old profession, which we will have to keep safe as the days go by. Finding food and medicine and protecting the shelter should be our top priorities. We will be presented with a multitude of moral decisions that may affect the spirits of the characters, bandits willing to rob us and endless surprises that will make us have to rethink our strategy. The game, due to its mechanics, is perfect for touch controls and it is very replayable.
