Viber is expanding and has presented its application for Windows 8.1. In this way we can use it from the classic interface or desktop and from the Modern UI with control. This messaging service offers internet calls, VoIP, to connected contacts but also to mobile and landlines with a really low rates.
Application improved recently on the two dominant mobile platforms, iOS and Android, introducing the function Viber out to call phone numbers that do not have the application installed.
The good news is that it is a fully multiplatform service and for a long time it has been able to be used on Windows and Mac desktops, and on Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia mobile devices.
In the case of Android, it is great that it is also optimized for tablets. With this premiere, the Viber experience on tablets further expands allowing teams with Windows RT and Windows 8 full touch operation.
We have all the features we would expect from the service, including the stickers, video messages, and calls both over WiFi and mobile networks. Your rates for these VoIP calls are between 200% and 400% cheaper than in other services like Skype or Google Voice.
But there is also an interesting integration with the operating system. We can set the Viber icon to the home screen and thus see how its icon gives us updated information in real time about our contacts. It is also integrated with the system notifications, so if they send us a message or we have a missed call, we will find out later by a notification in the upper right corner.
Also take advantage split screen of the system to improve multitasking experience.
They have also updated the application for Windows Phone 8 and calls can be transferred from the tablet to the phone and vice versa without interruption. This is really impressive.
The only downside is that at the moment it's only in english, but we think this will change soon.
