Windows Phone 8.1 will bring folders to the start screen

Microsoft has recently published, in the help section of its website, a text that explains how to make a folder on Windows Phone desktop. Although before it was possible to organize applications in this way thanks to a little trick devised by Nokia, an update to version 8.1 will support the option natively, just like iOS and Android already do.

There is no doubt that Microsoft has created a very functional and attractive desktop for Windows on phones and tablets, starting from the mosaic concept and developing it based on live tiles with updated information. In fact, some Android manufacturers are launching to incorporate similar creations within the customization margin that the Google system supports: the UX Magazine from Samsung or the Blink Feed HTC are clearly inspired by that line.

The system becomes more customizable

In the early days of the modern Windows interface, we encountered a format very stiff that barely allowed us to choose which applications we wanted to have access to from the home screen. However, Microsoft, little by little, has been giving the user the option to choose the size, visibility, location or color You want to give each icon, and even set your own wallpaper, so that you can play with different variables to design a Windows to your liking.

The folders will continue this line, and although at the moment they are only confirmed for Windows Phone, we are sure that we will soon see them also in the versions for tablet and PC of the System.

A very similar operation to iOS or Android

The way to operate with the folders will be very similar to how it is in the other operating systems:

To create a folder we simply have to press and hold over an icon and drag it on top of another. Tapping on the folder, it opens and lets us see and access the applications it contains from the same home screen.
