ZenPad 7 vs Iconia One 7: comparison

Asus ZenPad 7 Acer Iconia One 7

Asus gave us last week already the prices of his new ZenPad range (We can only find out how much the high-end model will cost) and it has been confirmed, as we expected, that there is already a new rival in the field of tablets from basic range, which will be the 7-inch version. Our first comparative with this ZenPad 7 went to decide whether or not it was a better option than the Memo Pad 7 of own Asus, but today the turn has come to face some of its toughest competitors, such as the Iconia One 7, the tablet Acer, which comes at a price that's hard to beat. As has happened on other occasions, we must bear in mind that there are quite a few versions of this tablet, so we must not lose sight of the fact that the one we are dealing with is the Iconia B1-730. Which of the two offers us a best quality / price ratio? We measure your Technical specifications so that you can decide yourself.

Integrated

Although it is something that always remains a personal assessment in the last resort, yes we must recognize the tablet of Asus a more compact design, with smaller frames and straighter lines that are likely to make it more attractive. It should also be noted that the ZenPad 7Like the rest of the range, it has extra casings (which are purchased separately) that improve its functionalities, enhancing its audio system or giving the battery more capacity, for example. There are no big differences, however, in terms of finishes and plastic is the predominant material in both cases.

Dimensions

As it was already possible to intuit by the greater amplitude of the frames, the tablet of Acer is something bigger than that of Asus despite having a screen of the same size (18,9x10,8 inch against 19,8x12 inch). It is also somewhat thicker (8,4 mm against 9 mm), although the biggest difference is found when comparing its weight (265 grams against 335 grams).

Screen

As we just noted, the screen of both is the same size (7 inches) and also have the same aspect ratio (16:9, optimized for video playback). We must not lose sight, however, that there is an important difference in resolution, in favor of the tablet Acer (1024 x 600 against 1280 x 800).

Performance

In the performance section, the balance is quite balanced: in both cases we find a processor Intel, although of different models (a x3-C3200 quad core to 1,2 GHz In front of a Z2560 dual core to 1,6 GHz), and a 1 GB RAM memory. The Asus tablet, more recent, has the advantage, of course, of arriving already with Android Lollipop as an operating system, while that of Acer arrives with Android Jelly Bean upgradeable only to Android KitKat for the moment.

Storage capacity

Although in both cases we are going to find the same storage capacity if we opt for the more affordable model (8 GB), The ZenPad 7 wins the victory by also offering us a model with 16 GB internal memory. In both cases, however, we can expand the memory externally through card micro-SD.

Cameras

We cannot yet conclude which of the two tablets will win, as there will be two versions of the one. ZenPad 7 and it is not yet confirmed which of the two will be marketed in our country: if the most powerful does, it would be tied with the Iconia One 7, both with 5 MP on the back cover and with 0,3 MP on the front; if the other version does, the main camera version of 2 MP, the victory will be, logically, for the tablet of Asus.

Autonomy

Of course, it is still too early to have independent autonomy data for the new tablet of Asus And we can't even compare the battery capacity data either, as the Taiwanese haven't provided it yet either. The only thing we can do, therefore, is to repeat the autonomy estimates that the company itself has given us for its ZenPad 7, which are 8 hours, and record the 3700 mAh battery of the Iconia One 7.

Price

This is the section in which the Iconia One 7, which, as we said at the beginning, has a very competitive price, the more it stands out, since it can be found in some distributors for the surprising number of $89, still far below the also fantastic price that Asus has announced that it will have the ZenPad 7 and what will be of $119. Two very good options, in any case, for those who want a solvent tablet investing as little money as possible.
