Intel, the maker of the Atom chips that will assemble all the tablets running Windows 8, has announced an event for a week from now, the September 27 in which they will present with their manufacturers several products that use the system of Atom Clover Trail Z2760 chips. This means getting a bit ahead of Microsoft with its highly anticipated next event. October 26, which will introduce Windows 8 and Surface.

The event to be held at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will bring together Intel personalities with executives from many of the nominated manufacturers to build Windows 8 devices and therefore output Intel CPUs with Atom Clover Trail chips.

The idea is to talk about this new chip system and show new devices from these companies, among which we will see tablets, mainly hybrids and convertibles. At the event there will be people from HP, Acer, Samsung, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo y ZTE.

At the recent IFA we saw tablet models from all these companies that will potentially carry Windows 8 although nothing has been fully confirmed. Among them we would highlight Asus Vivo Tab, Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro o Lenovo ThinkPad 2.

As we already know, tablets that carry Windows 8 will be able to use all the applications available for any Windows 7 computer. The only condition is that they carry Intel x86 or AMD chips. A priori, these devices will be more expensive and heavier, due to the different requirements associated with this type of chip, than Windows RT devices.

In fact, manufacturers have shown more determination in their intentions to make tablets with Windows RT. Recall that this operating system is an adaptation of Windows 8 to devices that use ARM chips, such as Nvidia's Tegra 3 or Qualcomm's Snapdragon. With it we can only use applications written with Windows Runtime, that is, of the Metro environment. This means losing most of your old Microsoft software except for Microsoft Office e Internet Explorer 10.

Due to the details that we know of the event, it is possible that we will see the confirmation of a device with Windows 8 and perhaps some clue of its price, which seems to be the biggest obstacle that manufacturers are finding to decide entirely on this operating system. In fact, this week it was rumored that Asus was considering only working tablets with Windows RT. We'll see.
