Tablets with Android Oreo (2018): finally we have options

android logo

At the end of last year we reviewed the tablets that already had Android Oreo and we had a very short list, but it seems that at last a point has come where we can choose enter a slightly longer list. It is true that Android 9.0 is already around the corner, but if we are going to get a new tablet at least we have the possibility of choosing one that is relatively up-to-date.

New tablets with Android Oreo

To begin with, we have already been a few months in which finally the tablets that are being launched do so with Android Oreo, with the exception of some low-cost and Chinese tablets. It is also interesting that we can find them in different price ranges, so that we do not have to think about making a significant investment to be able to get an updated tablet.

MediaPad M5

The first one that saw the light, and the one of the highest level of all that we have available right now, is the MediaPad M5 de Huawei, and we can get it in two models: one with a 10.8 inches, what does it cost? $400, and another one 8.4 inches, which officially costs $350 But on Amazon you can usually find it cheaper. It is a full-fledged high-end tablet, with a Quad HD screen, an excellent audio system and one of the most powerful processors that we will find in Android tablets.

MediaPad M5 Lite 10

This is a recent addition and also bears the stamp of Huawei, but it is a much more affordable option within the 10 inches, since we can find it (for now we have to wait three weeks yet) from $300. Arriving with Android Oreo It is one of the main advantages it has over its successor, the most economical MediaPad M3 Lite 10, but not the only one, because we are also going to have a more powerful processor and better battery.

MediaPad T5 10

Another tablet of Huawei that will arrive with Android Oreo in the second week of August, the cheapest of them all. It will be launched with a price of $200 and it will immediately become one of the best options that we are going to have in that price range, not only because it is more up-to-date than others (some direct rivals still arrive with Android Marshmallow), but also because it has made the leap to Full HD and comes with the same processor as the MediaPad M5 Lite 10.

Mi Pad 4

Another option to enjoy Android Oreo has given it to us Xiaomi, with its new Mi Pad 4. Like its predecessors, we are here before an 8-inch tablet, although we cannot give you a price, because it still varies a lot from one importer to another and it is possible that if you want to make sure you do not pay too much it is advisable to wait a little. It should be achievable from under 200 euros (the model with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage) and with a Full HD screen and a Snapdragon 660 is a great option for games and other tasks that require good performance.

Alldocube M5

Another Chinese tablet, although in this case of 10 inches and more aimed at those who think more about watching movies and series and browsing, since the great claim here is the screen, which is wider and also with more resolution than that of Xiaomi. In return, we must bear in mind that we are going to be shorter in power, because the processor is a Helio X20. As with the Mi Pad 4 the price varies a bit between importers, but can usually be found for less than $200 without much problem.

Tablets updated to Android Oreo (officially or with ROM)

Buying a new tablet is not the only option we have, but we also already have a few tablets that have received the corresponding update, although very few officially. It is worth knowing, in any case, that at least there is the option of wearing Android Oreo to others through ROMs.

Galaxy tab s3

Pixel C

It has officially stopped being sold for some time, but we have decided to make a place for it on the list in case you find it second-hand or for some other carambola, because the truth is that it is an old tablet, but it would still be a great option at an adequate price, with a good screen, a somewhat old but powerful processor (especially thinking about games). And, despite the time that has elapsed since its launch, the first one that upgraded to Android Oreo (benefits of bearing the seal of Google, Clear).

Galaxy Tab S3

The only other tablet that has received the update to Android Oreo officially, how could it be otherwise, is the star tablet of Samsung. Having the Galaxy Tab S4 just around the corner, many will prefer to wait to get the new one, but it must be said that last year's has been running smoothly lately due to between 450 and 500 euros (S Pen included) and it is still one of the best Android tablets that we can buy (on the screen we can undoubtedly continue to say that at the moment it is the best).

Lineage OS

We already warned you that the list of tablets officially updated to Android Oreo It was short, but the possibilities are wide enough for those who dare to install ROMs. The safest option and the one that supports a greater number of devices (and, therefore, the one with which we have the best chance of finding our tablet among them) is this. The list of tablets with Android Oreo via Lienage OS It is quite wide, it covers many of the most popular models, and includes some quite old ones (something interesting not to buy a new one, of course, but to try with some that you may still have at home).

Options we already have on the horizon

As we did the first time, we are going to finish today also looking ahead a bit, because if we have a little patience, we can add a few more options to the list (in addition, of course, that new tablets of the we haven't heard from yet).

Galaxy Tab S4

Of course, the main reason to wait, especially if we want to get the best possible tablet, is the Galaxy Tab S4. From the point of view of the operating system, in addition, it must be said in its favor that it not only comes with Android Oreo rather, taking into account that Samsung is the most reliable manufacturer in the field of updates, it is perhaps the only one on this list that we would dare to say that you will surely receive Android PEven if it probably won't until next year, of course.

Galaxy Tab Advanced 2 (or Galaxy Tab A2 or Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2018)

We do not know what its final name will be, but at this point there are also not many doubts that in addition to the Galaxy Tab S4 Samsung also has a mid-range 10-inch tablet in the oven for succeed the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) which, of course, will also arrive already with Android Oreo. Taking into account that we already have other mid-range tablets (the Huawei) and that there is no date, we do not know how much it is worth waiting in this case, but we leave this on record so that you value it.

Alcatel 1T

We will also leave a reference to tablets Alcatel 1T because they could be an interesting option for those who are interested in cheap tablets, but we have to say that in this case we do not know very well if they will end up reaching the stores in our country, because it has been a long time since they were officially presented (at the MWC no less) and since then we have not to hear from them again. But we left them pointed out, just in case.

Lenovo Tab 4 (update)

Another possibility thinking about the future, although in this case through update: Lenovo announced a few weeks ago that their Lenovo Tab 4 would receive Android Oreo, although we will have to wait a long time, because the official date was November and prudence advises expecting it to be delayed. They are the only mid-range Android tablets already in stores that we can say something similar about, anyway, so they at least deserve a mention.
