We warned you at the end of last week that together with the second public beta of iOS 12, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), had already launched the first of the Siri shortcut app and we have not had to wait long to show you how it will work and that you prepare to get the most out of it when we finally have it on our iPad and iPhone.
This is the new Siri shortcut app
We already explained how you could install iOS 12 on an iPad easily and without having to wait for the official launch thanks to the public beta, but in it, as in those that until now were available for developers, there is still one of the great novelties that will arrive with this update, which is the Siri shortcut app. In fact, it is still not possible to test it by any user, since at the moment it is in beta only for authorized developers.
Fortunately, despite this limitation, we already have a few video demonstrations of the app that we can use to take a first look. As you can see in the first one that we leave you, which lets us see the interface in more detail, it is very similar in design to Workflow, which is clearly the basis used by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),. The elements are organized in a simple and intuitive way: on the one hand we have the tab "gallery", In which we can choose between a series of predetermined shortcuts: on the other, we find the"library”Where custom shortcuts are stored.
How to create custom shortcuts
Although among the default shortcuts there are many that can be useful, we will probably want to make use of the personalized ones at some point, and to give you a better idea of how it would be done, we leave you this second video where we have a practical example. The procedure is very simple, as you can see: from "library”We click on the“ + ”icon and a setup menu where we can choose from a wide variety of actions to perform and different options for start the sequence and even customize the icon that represents it.
In the video we have a couple of examples, although to get an idea it is enough to take a look at the first one, in which we see how a specific sequence is created for when we leave home by car, which begins with the phrase “let's go"(" Let's go ") and open Google Maps, activate do not disturb mode, turn up the brightness and start playing music. By the way, we see that the brightness fails, but we must bear in mind that we are facing a beta.
Waiting for the official release of iOS 12
We do not know if the Siri shortcut app It will be available at some point in the form of public beta as well, but it should be included with the final version of iOS 12At least that is to be expected, thinking that it was one of the novelties to which Apple gave greater prominence on the day of its presentation.
Surely many of you will be impatient to try it yourself as soon as possible, but we must remember that, in the worst case, the official launch of iOS 12 It is not that far away either (if there is no unpleasant surprise, of course), since it should take place in the month of September, to accompany the new iPhones and the iPad Pro 2018.
