For this type of task, in addition, we are usually willing to make a greater investment, but for that very reason it is convenient to think about it a bit.
What we need on a tablet to work or study
The first thing we have to think about is what we really need in a tablet to work and the main difficulty here is that it is very difficult to make generalizations, because our needs will vary a lot according to the type of tasks that we are going to carry out and although we tend to think first of all about 2 in 1 Windows, we must bear in mind that they are not always the only answer and are usually the option more expensive.
The first thing to think about is what operating system we need and the most important thing is probably that we are familiar with the one we choose. Sometimes Windows It is the best option because it allows us to install more powerful PC apps, and others are simply a matter of which one we have always used to work.
In any case, if what we need is to use databases, spreadsheets, word processors, slide shows, basic editing tools and the other common office apps, there are plenty of solid options both in iOS as in Android, and both, although perhaps more the first, are introducing interesting advances to improve multitasking.
The same happens sometimes with accessories, the vast majority will probably need a keyboard, but in certain cases, for works with a greater artistic component, the fundamental instrument is a stylus. And we also have the same problem with the technical specifications, we usually think that the more powerful the tablet the better but, again, to use an office suite, for example, we do not need too much.
The best options with iOS and Android
For all those who think that they can really do without Windows and large processors, but that they are going to write a lot and need a physical keyboard in any case, keep in mind that we can get hold of a good mid-range tablet (with Android) and simply buy a wireless keyboard, even a folding one, that there are quite interesting options for less than 30 euros. Virtually all the suggestions we made regarding Huawei tablet accessories can be applied here to tablets of other brands.
If we can do without Windows, but not a certain level of performance and as long as we have the budget to make the necessary investment, things get even easier because the best 10-inch tablets they have official high-end keyboards designed specifically for them.
Leaving aside for a moment personal preferences in the operating system, if we really need the best possible performance (and we are already talking here about tasks such as 4K video editing and the like) or for more artistic works, we have to give some advantage to the iPad Pro 10.5, by its processor in the first case and by the Apple Pencil combined with its 120 Hz screen in the second. But Galaxy Tab S3 has in its favor being a cheaper option.
If the price of these two tablets, which is high at the beginning but with a keyboard rises considerably, is out of our budget, we still have two very good high-end options: the iPad 9.7 It does not attract so much attention, but it has proven to have excellent performance and it is possible to accompany it with a good keyboard for a more reasonable price; the Google Pixel C it is another solid bet and it can be an even more interesting option if we need above all good performance in graphics processing.
The best options with Windows
If we cannot or want to do without Windows, we must be prepared to have to make some sacrifices in certain sections (multimedia, autonomy), but we still have some economic options. Of course, we can always turn to chinese tablets, but if we don't want to go through the import, we still have the Miix 320, the best option right now if we are looking for a 2 in 1 for 300 euros (HD resolution, Intel Atom processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage).
If our work mainly requires the use of an office suite, as we said before, an Intel Atom and 4 GB of RAM should be more than enough, but perhaps we will miss a slightly larger screen. Making the jump to 12 inches and Intel Core processors, however, will cost us at least around 650 euros, which is the cheapest we can find the Miix 510, our best bet in this case.
Finally, and whenever we can afford it, we can go directly to considering the high-end Windows tablets, and here it must be said that after making an investment of this level it is probably already preferable to bet on models with an Intel Core i5 processor and, if our demands are really high, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Here, no surprises, our main recommendations are the Surface Pro and Galaxy Book 12.
