Drivers are now available to install Windows 10 Technical Preview on Surface 3

Days after Microsoft itself recommended not to install yet 10 Windows Technical Preview on your new tablet Surface 3, Intel, in collaboration with the Redmond company have released the necessary drivers so that now, the users of the device can test the latest version of the operating system that will be released in the coming months and be aware of the changes that are taking place from here to the release of the final version. A week ago Microsoft launched Surface 3 in Spain. The device arrives with a 10,8-inch screen with Full HD resolution, processor Intel Atom Cherry Trail x7-Z8700 with quad cores at 2,4 GHz and support for 64 bits. It is accompanied by a 2 GB RAM memory and 64 GB internal storage (model that costs $599) or a RAM of 4 GB and 128 GB of storage capacity (the price amounts to 719 euros). It also includes an 8 megapixel rear camera, 3,5 megapixel front camera, a complete connectivity pack and Windows 8.1 in its full version by default

This version of the Redmond operating system, contrary to what will happen with Windows RT (version used by the old models of the Surface range), yes it will upgrade to Windows 10, renovation that will serve as a link for all the company's devices in the same software that adapts to each one. The interest is such that many users have started to test the Technical Preview version of Windows 10, however, Microsoft advised just a few days ago that those who had a Surface 3 will wait because the drivers for the Intel Atom x5 / x7 processors were not ready yet.

They did it with the following message from one of the moderators of their official forums: Please do not try to install Windows 10 on the new Surface 3. There are no drivers for the Intel Atom x5 / x7 processors. There are no drivers in the Preview Build because Intel has not provided them yet. We do not know the uptime of these drivers as Intel continues to work on the drivers needed for its new chipset and processors. "

Quick response from Intel

This message was published earlier this week and surprise, today we found that Intel already has the drivers ready mentioned above for Windows 10 of their chips, including the Atom Cherry Trail x7-Z8700 that mounts the Surface 3. To get them, just download them via Windows Update. Once this is done, you will be able to download Windows 10 to test it on the latest Microsoft tablet.

How to install Windows 10 on Surface 3

The process, contrary to what it might seem, is quite simple. The first thing we must do is go to the website of Windows Insider. There we will find a lot of information that may be useful but what we first need to continue with the process is crear una cuenta if we don't already have a previous one. We click on the button "Introduction" or "Get Started" highlighted in purple. There they will simply ask us for a Microsoft email account and once registered we will log in.

You will receive a welcome message in your email account and we just have to download the latest file available. We can get Windows 10 Technical Preview in two ways. The first one is simpler, we will download an executable file named "Windows10InsiderPreview.exe". We execute it and it will directly make the pertinent checks and begin with the download and subsequent installation of the operating system. The second is just as valid but it is not the most recommended for a tablet, since it is will download as an ISO image (complete software download) that we will have to mount with a program (on a PC it interprets it as if we were inserting a CD / DVD in the tray) and install it.
