What tablets can we already find with Android Marshmallow?

Android clouds

Yesterday we left you with Android chunking data which, unfortunately, made it clear that the process of extension of Android Marshmallow isn't exactly going fast: four months after its release, the latest version of the mobile operating system from Google, has reached only 1,2% of the devices. A good part of these devices are also smartphones, since these usually receive more attention from manufacturers in terms of updates. You can imagine, therefore, that tablets that have come to Android 6.0 They are very few. Which are? We review the options we have today, and those we hope to have soon.

Tablets that already have Android Marshmallow

We start with the safe bets, which we can confirm that will allow you to enjoy Android Marshmallow and that, unfortunately, there are really few. As you can imagine, the first places are for the Nexus tablets, although not even all of them: the Pixel C arrives with Android 6.0 starting, and the Nexus 9 and Nexus 7 2013 have the update available, but for the Nexus 7 our only hope is CyanogenMod (we remind you that we recently left you a detailed tutorial to root it).

Pixel C

Fortunately, at least in recent times we have been able to add a couple more names to the list and, as you can imagine, they are the Nvidia Shield, which for quite some time is always the first to update its tablets: to new Tablet Shield K1 has Android Marshmallow available for a while, and the Original Tablet Shield You started receiving it this week (the process has stopped because some bugs have been located with the Wi-Fi connection, but it should resume soon).

Tablets announced with Android Marshmallow

It's not that in the months that have passed since the release of Android Marshmallow many have seen the light new Android tablets (There have almost been more debuts of tablets with Windows 10) but, unfortunately, not even among this have there been an abundance of those that arrive with this new version and, surprisingly, some of the most interesting that we have known, are still going to run. Android Lollipop, at least starting. The only exception at the moment is the new P, announced by Alcatel at CES in Las Vegas.

When do we expect new models to arrive with Android Marshmallow? Well, in this sense we do not have good news to give you either. We have the MWC just around the corner and surely there will debut some new ones, but there is not much information about it. The safest bet would normally have been a new Xperia Z Tablet (An Xperia Z5 Tablet Compact maybe?), But not only has there been no indication that it is on the way (which is not so worrisome considering that the presentation of the Xperia Z4 Tablet took us quite by surprise), but that there are rumors that in fact there will not be.

Tablets with pending Android Marshmallow updates

Not even regarding upcoming updates we can be overly optimistic, since most of those that are confirmed or in progress (such as those of some HTC, Those of the LG G3 and the LG G4, the Motorola or that of Galaxy S6) are for smartphones and phablets. We only know for sure that they will have Android Marshmallow the X, Z3 Xperia Tablet Compact and X, and not even for these we have a fixed date yet.

There are a few, however, that although they do not have the update confirmed, we know that they can count on it, as is the case of the Galaxy Tab S2 and probably its predecessors as well, but we don't know how long that might take. Some leaks about the plans Samsung in this regard include among the tablets to update the A Galaxy Tab, but the normal thing is that they have to wait even more.

To liven up the wait

You already know that we are still aware of the news that arise in this regard and that we will go back to review the state of the question when some movement begins to be seen, but it is convenient to be aware that the wait can be long, especially in the case of mid-range and entry-level devices, with less popular models likely not getting the update. What we can do, in order to make the wait a bit more pleasant, is at least go giving the look of Android Marshmallow to any of our Android tablets.

PITY…. This year I want to buy a Tablet and of course I will wait for it to come out with Android Marshmallow 6.0 because I have a NEXUS and I can guarantee that this version has improved a lot in stability, speed, security, and usability.
I have been waiting for months for the NEW Tablet Shield to come out with the X1 processor as it is already in the PIXEL C, I think it would be great news, and also that the new Samsung tablets come out with the new version.
